Fish And Game is a Glasgow-based performance company producing the work of artistic director, Ivor MacAskill, associate artist Fiona Manson and their collaborators. These highly original works are entertaining and experimental both in their content and form, straddling theatre, live art and visual art. There is a particular focus on creating innovative work for children and their adults in a range of settings and contexts.
Fish & Game was originally formed by Ivor MacAskill with Robert Walton who has been based in Melbourne, Australia since Spring 2011.
Recently we have focused on producing high-quality, sophisticated live performance works for children and their adults, such as The Polar Bears Go Wild!, The Polar Bears Go Up!, How To Be A Christmas Tree and Everyone’s A Winner, Baby! These are created by bringing together the best artists to collaborate on the shows, supported by great producers and wonderful venues.

These are original and talented thinkers and theatre-makers. I have not been so intrigued or challenged by a new show from Scotland for a long time.

TEAM: Ivor MacAskill is a live artist and theatre maker creating unique performances and projects for both adults and children. He makes his own work and collaborates with other artists as a performer, dramaturg and director. Recent projects include MOOT MOOT created and performed with Rosana Cade; Gendersaurus Rex and the EU-funded PUSH project with Imaginate; Dramaturgy on Emma Frankland’s Rituals For Change; and Direction on Mamoru Iriguchi’s Eaten.
Fiona Manson is a performer, theatre maker and director based in Glasgow. She is the co-creator and performer of all the Polar Bear shows as well as How To Be A Christmas Tree and Everyone’s A Winner, Baby! for Fish And Game. She is Artistic Director of Elie Street Productions and devised and directed Christmas At The Circus for Cumbernauld Theatre in 2016. Fiona also works with Hearts and Minds as a Hospital Clown.
HISTORY: Ivor MacAskill and Robert Walton met in 1998 and made their first piece together in Berlin in 2000 while both students at Dartington College of Arts. In 2001, creating their degree show, So Long, they formed Reader Performance Group with collaborators Lalage Harries, James Leadbitter and Hannah Still, and moved to Glasgow. In 2005, Fish And Game was formed and since then more than 50 original works have been produced exploring a fascination with performance, nature, ritual and play. The work is interdisciplinary and spans theatre, new media, visual art, music, dance and comedy. It has been shown across Scotland, especially in our home-town of Glasgow, but also nationally and internationally.
Much of the work takes place outside of traditional art spaces and incorporates encounters with audience members and their environments, and it often tests the boundaries of what performance can be. We have made a range of one-to-one performances and works for small groups as well as shows for large audiences in theatres, parks and sporting arenas.
