Feels like we’re only just back from Australia but soon we’ll be jumping back on a jetplane to take us the other way around the world to the USA!
In January of this year we were honoured to be part of the IPAY showcase in Madison, Wisconsin. It was great and we made new friends, ate lots of delicious pancakes, took part in the Women’s March and wore hats made of cheese. But also our lovely agents, Kids’ Entertainment, were able to start booking up dates for us in North America.
So in a few short weeks we’ll be flying across the pond to begin a 5-week tour starting in Nashville and ending up in New York. If you happen to be around or know anyone who would like to see two friendly bears chase a runaway balloon up to space, then here are the details:
We’re very excited to see how the American audiences enjoy the show and to have a little bear road trip. Look out for lots of photos on our Polar Bear Instagram @PolarBearsTheatre
The Polar Bears had a wonderful time in Perth, Western Australia, presenting The Polar Bears Go Up as part of the aptly-named AWESOME Festival. The bears were very well looked after by all the festival staff and especially the great team at the lovely Heath Ledger Theatre at the State Theatre Centre of WA. It was a big space, but the audiences were so warm and giggly that it felt very intimate.
After the shows we had some fun times with other artists like Shona Reppe who was presenting Potato Needs A Bath; Madame Lark aka Christine Johnston who will be making a new show with Shona supported by Imaginate; and Daan Mathot and Udo Akemann from Belgium who have the great show, Deep.
And we were very lucky to receive these great reviews too:
The Polar Bears are coming into their final week at the Edinburgh Fringe and we’ve been having some lovely ★★★★ and ★★★★★ reviews from Edinburgh Festivals Magazine, The List, Families Edinburgh and The Wee Review. We’ve also been highlighted as one of The Guardian’s top shows and have a great review in this round-up of some of the Fringe family shows.
Our Polar Bears had a great two weeks at the lovely Unicorn Theatre. We were very well supported and had some lovely audiences, most of which were sold out. And we’ve had some great 4-star reviews too:
★★★★ ‘Charm, wit and a sense of wonder’ The Stage
★★★★ ‘Concise and engaging enough to keep the whole audience engrossed’ The Upcoming
★★★★ ‘A sense of joyful discovery runs throughout this delightful piece’ The Londonist
A fun, surreal and highly enjoyable treat for children aged 2-5
